Benjamin Mefford

Art for Advent was an interesting challenge. I typically work on art projects daily, but I realized how many of my regular projects are time and labor intensive - which is why I have many unfinished works in my studio space. Having an incentive to start and finish at least one work per day pushed me and I enjoyed it. I became very aware of just how much daylight I had available to me in December, and this significantly influenced the artworks that I made during the project; Most days I would spend some time taking photographs in the afternoon, then work on editing and modification in the evenings after it was dark. I did include a painting, a wood sculpture, and two small stone sculptures, but mostly I stuck with digital photography as the results were more immediate and controllable.
