Emily Kirsch
Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
Emily Kirsch is an interdisciplinary emerging artist focused in material based work. Kirsch was born and raised in British Columbia and currently lives on Vancouver Island. Using items such as hair, food, and insects allows Kirsch to question our visceral and moral objections to these objects and how that reaction may intersect with desire and humour. There is a sense of whimsy and play in her work that disregards perfection and preciousness. Kirsch’s practice requires the constant learning of new skills from a number of different trades, crafts and scientific area studies. Her work creates interaction inside and outside the gallery.
