3D Design and Modelmaking

This highly imaginative and hands-on modelmaking course has been specially designed for budding artists aged 12-15 to learn more about modelmaking, as well as learn new skills and techniques to design and create unique pieces in 3D.

Course overview

This course has been specially developed for young modelmakers or lovers of 3D creations aged 12–15 that’re taking their first steps into the vast and exciting subject that is modelmaking and 3D design.

Throughout the course our budding modelmakers will receive valuable and specialist insight into the world of modelmaking. Each 8-week term offers brand new projects providing students with the opportunity to experiment with a wide range of materials and gain confidence with making and creating unique work.

Each week students will learn a variety of new skills in modelmaking and 3D design using industry-standard specialist equipment, materials and techniques. Students don’t need to already be expert makers, all we ask is that students come with enthusiasm for learning new things, creative ideas and some old clothes you’d don’t mind getting messy in!

Our young designers will be expertly guided by their course tutor, Sophie Perkins, through set exercises each week, alongside demonstrations and presentations of prepared examples from sculpting, casting, moulding and much, much more!

We understand how important young creative artists are – they’ve so much potential, untapped abilities, and enthusiasm. On this course they’ll be supported to fully explore their creative talent and future potential as a modelmaker or 3D designer.

We encourage our young artists to be themselves, and as such we harness a budding artists’ natural style and flair, therefore enabling them to utilise existing creative interests and acquire new skills in the development of their own unique creative visual language.

It goes without saying, too, that we ensure all our young learners are included, respected, and supported every step of the way on their creative journey with us.
