This hands-on fine art course has been specially designed for budding artists aged 12-15 to experiment and explore a wide range of creative techniques in drawing, painting, collage, 3D work and other inspiring artistic methods in an encouraging and creative environment.

This hands-on fine art course has been specially designed for budding artists aged 12-15 to experiment and explore a wide range of creative techniques in drawing, painting, collage, 3D work and other inspiring artistic methods in an encouraging and creative environment.

As well as finessing a range of creative skills, our young students will also learn key skills necessary for pursuing further education in a creative field, such as the ability to discuss their own work and the work of others with confidence.

Self-motivated projects and development will be encouraged, and students will make at least one group visit to our artistic resource, AUB TheGallery.

At every opportunity student’s will be given support and advice to enable those to engage fully and push their creative boundaries and free their imagination.

Students will be working in our university specialist studio spaces that have been home to our award-winning graduates, using tools and equipment that the creative industries rely on and become a part of our creative community.

 We understand how important young creative artists are – they’ve so much potential, untapped abilities, and enthusiasm. On this course they’ll be supported to fully explore their creative talent and future potential as a fine artist.

We encourage our young artists to be themselves, and as such we harness a budding artists’ natural style and flair, therefore enabling them to utilise existing creative interests and acquire new skills in the development of their own unique creative visual language.

It goes without saying, too, that we ensure all our young learners are included, respected, and supported every step of the way on their creative journey with us.

The course includes

  • Introduction to fine art
  • Building core principles
  • Proportion, line, volume, chiaroscuro and colour
  • Drafting skills and developing the fundamentals

Course aims

  • This course will give young artists an appreciation of all the aspects of fine art whilst they work towards producing their fine art pieces
  • Students will be provided opportunities to experiment, risk-take and find their inner creativity
  • Students will be supported and encouraged to explore the application of different methods, techniques and media
